DETROIT – At its recent Annual Meeting, the MotorCities National Heritage Area Partnership welcomed two new members of its Board of Directors, who will each serve a two-year term.

The newly-elected board members include:

  • Gina Liburdi of Shelby Township, who is a representative in the UAW National CAP Department for the UAW International Union in Detroit. She has served in the labor movement for over 20yrs in various capacities which include, union organizing, member training and advocacy, and she is currently working in the UAW political action department. She has a B.A. degree in Family and Community Services from Michigan State University and is a working mom with a 10-year-old daughter. 
  • Nick Nerbonne of Grand Rapids, Media, Digital and Industry Relations Director for Travel Michigan in Lansing. Nerbonne joined the board of directors in February to finish the term of the retiring Dave Lorenz and now has been elected to a two-year term. Throughout more than 20 years of digital marketing and public relations experience, Nerbonne has represented brands and organizations in television news, tourism and hospitality, network services, consumer products, and economic development, among others. In his current position, he leads Travel Michigan’s communications and digital media efforts, and works with the travel industry to share stories highlighting the outdoor recreation, natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture found in communities and destinations across Michigan’s two peninsulas.
