MotorCities National Heritage Area – Detroit, MI (Hybrid)

MotorCities, a non-profit member of the National Park Service’s National Heritage System, is seeking an experienced Communications & Engagement Manager to lead  a comprehensive communications strategy, guide organizational storytelling, and deepen engagement across our 16‑county heritage region. This role is ideal for a seasoned communicator who can operate strategically, manage complex initiatives, and influence public perception and partnerships.

In this mission centered leadership role, you will guide how MotorCities tells its story – across digital channels, media, communities and partnerships to elevate the powerful cultural and economic narrative of how the region “put the world on wheels”.

Senior‑Level Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, public engagement, or public affairs.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing high‑level communication strategies and complex projects.
  • Strong experience with digital media, social platforms, CMS tools and analytics: graphic/multimedia skills preferred.
  • Skilled relationship-builder who can collaborate with diverse partners, engage media and community groups, and juggle multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

Hybrid, full-time opportunity based in Detroit with regional travel and occasional evenings/weekends.
