MotorCities National Heritage Area Celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a Gala Event Wednesday, August 22 at Packard Proving Grounds

A limited number of tickets are still available for the MotorCities National Heritage Area’s 20th Anniversary Reunion Gala event, scheduled for Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the historic and picturesque Packard Proving Grounds, located at 49965 Van Dyke Ave. in Shelby Twp.

Guests will enjoy dinner, drinks, silent and live auctions, a room full of Packards, special guests including Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and a program paying tribute to two decades of MotorCities’ success.

The Automobile National Heritage Act was authored, co-sponsored and championed by former Congressman John Dingell and former Senator Carl Levin and signed by President Bill Clinton on November 6, 1998. The law created what is now known as the MotorCities National Heritage Area Partnership, one of 49 National Heritage Areas in the country and a nonprofit corporation affiliated with the National Park Service. Its mission is to preserve, interpret and promote the region’s rich automotive and labor heritage. Regional programs inspire residents and visitors with an appreciation for how the automobile changed Michigan, the nation, and the world.

MotorCities serves 16 counties representing a population of 6.5 million Michiganders and generates an economic impact of $410.4 million each year and more than 4,500 jobs.

Tickets for the Gala are $80 for MotorCities members and $100 for nonmembers. RSVPs are required by August 17, so reserve your place now www.motorcities.org/20th-anniversary-events.

An amazing array of items and one-of-a-kind travel packages have been added to the Gala’s silent and live auctions, including:

  • Detroit Lions and Luke Bryan suite tickets;
  • A winetasting at the Rattlesnake Club;
  • A VIP tour for up to 8 featuring the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House and Fair Lane, Home of Clara & Henry Ford;
  • A bald eagle tour on the grounds of DTE Energy’s Monroe Power Plant;
  • A long-weekend four-day stay in Breckenridge, Colorado;
