Waiting for the Trolleys

With the trolleys making it easy to travel through the lakes of Oakland County, people got off or waited at platforms built by the Detroit United Railway (DUR). The platforms sat on land that was once owned by local farmers and bought by the DUR. Taxes on this property forced the railway to charge high fares that eventually contributed to the demise of the trolley system.
