Detroit Driving Club

The Detroit Driving Club opened in 1894 when horses wer still prized for work and transportation. Horse racing was big-money entertainment at this mile-long oval track just south of East Jefferson Avenue. The property hosted horse racing, auto racing, and auto testing until 1919 when it was subdivided for homes.
