“Find Your Road Trip and Find Yourself” is a 20-page, all-color guide that showcases 30 museums, historical homes and interpretive monuments that weave the rich story of the automotive industry in southeast and central Michigan. The MotorCities National Heritage Area is a non-profit affiliate of the National Park Service dedicated to preservation of the automotive story and labor movement.

The guide also features an exclusive Passport Contest that celebrates the National Park Service’s 100-year anniversary. Prizes await adventurers who collect enough passport stamps including an official “I found my Michigan National Parks” certificate signed by the governor.

Area man Jay Gottschalk is the first winner of the Find Your Road Trip Passport Contest. Gottschalk visited nearly every site featured in the guide and a Michigan National Park site, and will now receive his personalized state certificate and other prizes.

He says the Find Your Road Trip guide introduced him to places he never knew existed – right in his own backyard!

“The ‘Find Your Road Trip’ campaign by the MotorCities National Heritage Area has introduced me to many varying, important aspects of both Michigan and America’s automotive heritage,” says Gottschalk. “Thank you, MotorCities, for not only preserving our automotive history, but also providing this helpful guide to many of the places that had a hand in shaping that history.”

The guide is available at 40 locations including all 14 Michigan Welcome Centers. Visit www.motorcities.org/findyourroadtrip to find a copy near you.
