Wood and Metal - The Roots of Flint's Industry

In the 1800's Flint had built its economy on the thriving lumber mills to supply the growing nation and the demand for wood. Once the demand had depleted the region's forests, the city of Flint turned to the metal industry to continue growing the economy around the nation. Carriages and wagons became the area's primary industry.
