William "Billy" Durant

Durant brought many of the world's industrial pioneers to Flint as he combined Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Oakland (later known as Pontiac) to build General Motors into the world's largest automaker. By the end of Durant's leadership the city's population had grown from 13,000 to 91,000 in the 1920s.
