Making Things Tough: Tightening Times for GMC Truck

In 1973 production of medium-duty trucks moved to the new 3.4 Million square foot Plant 6 fronting Opdyke Road. Later, skyrocketing fuel costs cause GMC truck sales to slip. The light-duty Chevrolet Sliverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks were the last General Motors vehicles built in Pontiac when the East Assembly Plant (Plant 6) closed it's doors in 2009 due to GM's restructuring in bankruptcy.
