Louis Chevrolet grew up in Switzerland and France where he raced and repaired bicycles before finding a facination with automobiles made in America in 1900. He caught the attention of Buick owner Billy Durant, and in 1909 was racing and designing for Buick. He combined fortunes with Durant and founded the Chevrolet Motor Company.
