An exodus of people left southern America for the north in the early 20th Century, attracted by the expolsive growth in the automobile industry. Pontiac offered opportunities that improved people's lives. These same people brought their skills and knowledge which helped grow the community as all types of backgrounds grew into positions of leadership within the community.
