At its June meeting, the MotorCities National Heritage Area Partnership elected Chris Fields of Stellantis to its board of directors, replacing the retiring Glenn Shagena.
Fields was appointed Vice President - Head of U.S. Employee Relations, for Stellantis, then known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, on September 1, 2020. In this position, Fields oversees Manufacturing and Parts Distribution Centers Employee Relations; Labor Economics & Benefit Finance; Wage & Salary Administration; Culture and Strategy; and Center for Employee Development.
Fields first joined Stellantis in 1996, then known as Chrysler Corporation, as a production operator at the McGraw Glass Plant in Detroit and was promoted into management in 1997 as a production supervisor. Beginning in 1999, he held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in Human Resources and Employee Relations at several of the company’s manufacturing facilities including Toledo North Assembly Plant, Mack Ave Engine Plant, and Warren Truck and Jefferson North Assembly Plants.
Prior to his return to Stellantis, Fields was the Vice President, Labor and Employee Relations, Western Hemisphere, for BP, PLC in Houston, Texas, where he led the function for as many as 25,000 employees spanning 50 facilities. He also held a similar position with Federal-Mogul Corporation, overseeing Human Resources operations for 11 plants in the Americas and leading Employee Relations for 51 plants in the U.S.
Fields holds an Executive MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy and a BA degree in Education from the University of Michigan. Chris currently resides in Troy with his wife and daughter.
