“This event is a great way to have a little fun, while learning about our state’s history as the automotive capital of the world,” said Shawn Pomaville-Size, Executive Director of MotorCities.
Here's how the #ExploreMotorCities Road Tour works. First, pick up your MotorCities Passport book at any of our 11 participating southeast Michigan attractions. Those attractions include:
· Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn;
· Detroit Historical Museum;
· Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit;
· The Henry Ford in Dearborn;
· Historic Fort Wayne in Detroit;
· Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester;
· Michigan Firehouse Museum in Ypsilanti;
· Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society in Eastpointe;
· Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township;
· Plymouth Historical Museum;
· and Yankee Air Museum in Belleville.
Then, at 4 p.m., bring your Passport to our final stop, the Automotive Hall of Fame, and get entries in our prize drawing at 5 p.m. for every stamp in your book. Our Grand Prize is four passes to the American Speed Festival coming up September 30-October 3 at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac ($300 value). You will also enjoy music, a car show, and refreshments.
Groups pay $30 per car to participate in the #ExploreMotorCIties Road Tour. MotorCities and Hagerty members are $25. For more information and to register, visit www.motorcities.org/exploremotorcities-road-tour.
Please note that THIS EVENT IS NOT A RACE. Everyone is being given the same amount of time to visit sites and collect stamps in their passport book.
